The Apple iPhone 13 Pro starts at $999 (£949, AU$1,699), and the 13 Pro Max at $1,099 (£1,049, AU$1,849) for 128GB of storage. You can get 1TB of storage on an iPhone for the first time. The extra storage pushes the price of a 13 Pro to $1,499 (£1,449, AU$2,569) and the 13 Pro Max to $1,599 (£1,549, AU$2,719). This is the first time we’ve seen a 1TB iPhone, and that price is correspondingly high.

The iPhone 13 Pro’s camera has several fun modes, including the 3x optical zoom, macro mode, Night mode, and Cinematic Mode for video. We have put them all to the test, and have also given the photo-editing mode a workout too. Night mode is very effective. The displays are up to 25 percent brighter outdoors.

The iPhone 13 Pro has a 2532×1170 resolution with 460 pixels per inch, while the iPhone 13 Pro Max has a 2778×1284 resolution with 458 pixels per inch. Both iPhones feature 1200 nits max brightness for HDR, along with True Tone to match the color temperature of the display to the ambient light, Wide Color for rich, vivid hues, and Haptic Touch for feedback.

The phones have the same squared-off look as the 12 series. The stainless steel sides are glossy and the back has one of four matte finishes: graphite, gold, silver, or Sierra blue. In some lighting, the Sierra blue iPhone reads as light gray and in another lighting, it looks like the Carolina blue of the UNC Tarheels.

Battery life is one of the biggest upgrades found in the iPhone 13 Pro. With the same size OLED panel as its predecessor, the iPhone 13 Pro packs a lot of pixels in a screen that measures 6.1 inches diagonally. Apple calls this the latest version of its Super Retina XDR technology, and it sure is pretty. Colors pop, there’s plenty of contrast, and the viewing angles are stellar.
