Apple iPhone SE 2022 went on sale on March 08, 2022, with more power, faster downloads over 5G, and improved photography. The starting price for the new iPhone SE is $429, which is $30 more expensive than the previous iPhone SE (2020). It is powered by the ludicrously speedy A15 Bionic processor (the same supercharged chipset inside the £1,549 iPhone 13 Pro Max).

The iPhone SE is the most affordable smartphone in the Apple Store. There are three storage options to choose from for the iPhone SE (2022). There’s 64GB for the base price, or you can pay $479 for 128GB or $579 for 256GB.

The Apple iPhone SE 2022 is now the only phone left in Apple’s stable with an IPS display. It’s pretty small at 4.7in, but with a resolution of 1,334 x 750 and a pixel density of 326ppi, it’s sharp enough to be classed as a “Retina HD” screen. Like most iPhones, this is also a capable video device. It can record up to 4K@60fps, with impressive stabilization and strong quality.

Moreover, the single 12-megapixel camera on the back of the iPhone SE 2022 takes really nice pictures in daylight situations. There is no ultrawide or telephoto option, but in fairness, most mid-range phones offer underwhelming secondary lenses, and I’ve long been an advocate for affordable phones focussing their efforts on strong primary cameras as Apple has done here.

Software is another strength. The iPhone SE ships with iOS 15, the latest version of Apple’s mobile operating system. It looks exactly like its predecessor, which in turn looked exactly like the iPhone 8. That’s because all three phones use pretty much the same chassis.

The iPhone SE can charge quite rapidly if you have a 20W Apple charger. Battery life is average for a modern smartphone, lasting in the region of 30 hours between charges with the screen on for about four hours using various messaging services and apps, and two hours of 5G.

In addition, the phone is extremely responsive in use and will continue to be so for years. It runs the latest version of iOS and all the apps and games you might want, except Fortnite. It has 5G, wifi 6, Bluetooth 5, wireless charging, water resistance, and all the things you’d expect of a modern phone in 2022.

At least the Apple iPhone SE 2022 is fantastically well built and finished to the same standard as Apple’s other higher-end phones. The iPhone SE (2022) is IP67 water resistant, which I tested by dropping it into a fountain. And this handset is more durable than the previous model because it uses the same tough glass as the iPhone 13.
