Apple iPad Pro 12.9-inch (2021) is the best tablet screen in the world and went on sale on May 21, 2021. This new version adds HDR image quality to rival what some of the best TVs are capable of, and more processing power than the biggest and beefiest MacBook Pro. For a few weeks after launch, the iPad was pretty hard to buy due to supply shortages, but that’s long cleared up now.

The Apple iPad Pro 2021 12.9-inch price is high, and it’s higher than the 2020 version of the tablet. It starts at $1,099 / £999 / AU$1,649 for the 128GB-storage version, with the price topping out at an incredible $2,399 / £2,149 / AU$3,549 for the cellular 5G-ready model with 2TB of storage.

The front-facing camera is excellent in terms of image quality, thanks to a 12MP resolution and ultra-wide field of view. The rear camera array is solid, too, boasting a main 12MP wide camera, 10MP ultra-wide camera, and a true tone flash.

This screen is just for the new 12.9-inch iPad Pro model, sadly. The 11-inch model has the same screen as last year. Both models still support up to 120Hz refresh rates and deliver P3 wide color gamut support, plus Apple Pencil 2 support, naturally. The resolution here is still 2732×2048, which is 264 pixels per inch.

Battery life, at 5 hours, 28 minutes of screen-on video streaming time, falls between the iPad Air (4 hours, 45 minutes) and the 2020 iPad Pro (6 hours, 16 minutes). Using the tablet for everyday tasks with some 5G use, it delivered between 5 and 6 hours of usage time. The iPad Pro recharges at up to 20W with a USB-C adapter but doesn’t support wireless charging.
